L-MUBE tirreferi ghall-ittra li baghat il-BOV u c-cirkolari mahruga mill-GWU li ntbaghtet lill-impjegati fejn il-bank habbar li ghadu kemm tal-gharfien wahdieni lill-GWU ghal skop ta’ negozjar kollettiv. L-MUBE tikkundanna bil-qawwa kollha lill-BOV li ghamel dan meta hemm kaz quddiem it-Tribunal Industrijali li ghandu jinstema’ llum u meta ghamel dan minghajr ma saret verifika ufficcjali li bil-prassi issir mid-Direttur tal-Impjiegi u tar-Relazzjonijiet Industrijali. Din hi l-ewwel darba li l-kumpanija hadet dan il-pass perikoluz u li hu theddida ghall-relazzjonijiet industrijali tajba f’pajjiz demokratiku. Ghalhekk l-MUBE ma kellha l-ebda triq ohra ghajr li tiehu l-bank ilQorti biex tirrevoka dan l-agir illegali. Intant il-Prim Awla tal-Qorti Civili laqghet provizorjament talba tal-MUBE biex il-BOV ma jinnegozjax Ftehim Kollettiv mal-GWU.
MUBE CONDEMNS BOV ACTION AND TAKES BANK TO COURT
First Hall of the Civil Court provisionally accepts MUBE’s claim
MUBE refers to a letter sent by BOV and to a GWU circular sent to employees where the bank has declared that it has granted sole recognition for the purpose of collective bargaining to the GWU. MUBE strongly condemns BOV’s action when there is a pending case at the Industrial Tribunal due to be heard today and when no official verification by the Director of Employment and Industrial Relations has taken place. This is the first time that the company has taken such a dangerous step which bodes ill to good industrial relations in a democratic country. MUBE has therefore had no other alternative but to take the bank to Court to annul this illegal action. In the mean time, the First Hall of the Civil Court has provisionally accepted a claim by the Malta Union of Bank Employees for BOV not to conduct Collective Agreement negotiations with the GWU.
