Following MUBE’s intervention and participation over the past years, the 2013 UNI Communications Forum has been hosted by UNI’s affiliate, Malta Union of Bank Employees, at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta between 18-20 June 2013.  UNI Global Union represents 16 million members across the world.

UNI Global Union General Secretary Philip Jennings said, “We look forward to such forum welcoming union communications experts in Malta. Never have communications been so vital as the crisis continues to bite, destroying workers’ lives. We must win the PR war against big business, government and the Troika. We must change the public perception of the union movement – we are job and wealth creators and must be seen as such. The Communicators’ Forum has a great track record, we look to the affiliates to seize the opportunity to learn about and share cutting edge innovations in the union communication world.”

Sixty delegates from more than 18 countries across the globe have participated in this annual event representing different areas of work and who are affiliates of UNI Global Union. This is basically about innovative communication approaches through the use of innovative tools which can bring the world together effectively.

Malta is proud to host such a UNI event and given the country’s strategic geographic position, we have always been at the forefront of innovation. We hope our country will inspire all participants to innovate, with quality communications tools and reach out further for better impact. It is all about working in anticipation and managing change after all.”

MUBE welcomed all the international participants who hail from 18 countries – Argentina, Uruguay, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Italy, Malaysia, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States and obviously Malta.

During the Forum, UNI communicators from around the world stood still in silence to show their solidarity with the people of Turkey. In cities across Turkey people from all walks of life are simply standing still in a silent protest against the Erdogan regime and police brutality. UNI’s communications professionals gathered from affiliate unions across the globe wanted to show their support.
